During last night’s debate John McCain said, “Americans have gotten to know Sarah Palin. They know that she’s a role model to women.” Wrong. Sarah Palin is NOT my role model, and I have no use for anyone who thinks she is or should be.
My role models are articulate, wise, thoughtful, quick-witted, brave and kind-hearted. Last week the YWCA of Evanston awarded leadership awards to three Evanston women for their achievements in empowering women and eliminating racism. They are role models. So are Sandra Day O’Connor, Melinda Gates and Condi Rice. Not, Sarah Palin.

I really believe that Republicans are Republicans because of a severe personality disorder. Not only do they lie like rugs – and right to your face – they live in their own little bubble where they create their own realities. And a woman Republican is the saddest of all. How low does a woman’s self-esteem have to be for her to not only align herself with men who will take away her right to control her own body, but who actually BELIEVES that men have the absolute right to do so?
Sarah Palin is NO role model for ANY woman. She is a doormat. She is mentally defective. She is a liar. She is a racist. She aligns herself with John McCain, who is such a racist that a book entitled ‘John McCain: Racist’ was just published. She aligns herself with a man who makes date-rape jokes. Sarah Palin would force a 12-year-old rape victim to have a baby, and she also charges rape victims in her little redneck town in Alaska for their own rape kit and investigation.
Sarah Palin is a great role model. For Hitler youth.

I totally agree. I found it extremely insulting that McCain would think that we look to Ms. Palin as a role model. No, Mr. McCain – we American women are not stupid!
We look to Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou, Olympia Snow, Hillary Clinton and many others as our role models. Women like women of substance and Ms. Palin is sorely lacking in that respect. We look up to women that can finish a complete sentence.
You can send this wind-up Barbie doll back to Alaska as far as I’m concerned.
