While the series may not have been my cup of tea, I think an author's job is to tell a story, not to send a message. I think that holds true for YA authors in the same way it does for authors of adult books. Every teen will read the book in their own unique way. I have enormous respect for the intelligence of teen readers. I also believe that most people, including teens, read for a variety of reasons, and one of those is escape, especially in the summer or in the middle of an intense course load. Hi Marcia!
